Baldness can occur in both men and women. Baldness in men is generally caused by transcription factors, namely hormonal hormone androgen / testosterone, male hormone levels are normally higher in men than in women. Theoretically baldness can happen to anyone at any age. The causes were varied.

Physiology of Hair

The number of human head hair follicles around 100,000, blond and red hair smaller number of black hair. Women's hair grow faster than males laki.Semakin grew older, the less hair density. In the baby's hair is very dense because of the smaller head size after adult density is reduced due to widespread surface of the scalp. In normal hair loss is less than 100 strands per day. If the loss is more than 150 strands per day then it can cause baldness.

Cause
  1. Derivatives / genetic. Baldness due to derivatives that are inherited through an autosomal dominant gene in men but is autosomal recessive in women. This means that all women who inherit the gene will bald bald on her son, causing baldness. While her daughter will not be bald if his father does not have the gene and when his father bald bald bald daughter has a 50% chance. But when father and mother are not bald, her son 50% chance of balding. Instead of girls up to 25% chance of balding. These genetic factors influence the hormone testosterone, which in turn causes baldness
  2. Physical trauma, chemical and biological. Physical trauma, chemical and biological can cause damage to skin and hair follicles, causing hair growth is not. This usually happens if the wound heal by forming scar tissue. Physical trauma in the form of mechanical trauma. Chemical trauma caused by chemicals in the form of a strong acid or strong base. While the biological trauma caused due to infection or inflammation of the skin.
  3. Telogen effluvium. Telogen effluvium is hair loss in telogen phase. Telogen phase is the phase in which the resting hair to grow. In this phase the hair can fall out 120-400 pieces per day. Normally this period lasted for 100 days. The amount of hair the telogen phase in women approximately 11% whereas in males 15%. This phase usually occurs after birth, a very strict diet, fever, stress, post-surgery, malnutrition (protein and calorie malnutrition, deficiency of folic acid, vitamin B12, and iron).
  4. Medications such as chemotherapy, oral contraceptives (birth control pills), long-term use of vitamin A, anti-thyroid drugs, amphetamines (class of medications are often misused, including crystal meth, Ecstasy)
